DDDC: Dedicated Design Day Capacity or "premise demand factor". Calculated by AGLC. Is based on the max. # of therms recorded by your meter on the most demanding day.
Customer Charge: A fixed monthly fee for gas connection to your home or business. Assigned by AGL. The same for every customer.
Firm Distribution: Charge is calculated by multiplying the customer's DDDC number times $5.69.
Meter Reading: Does not vary. It remains the same for every customer until changed by AGL through the PSC.
Social Responsibility: Remains the same for all customers. It is the charge AGL levies to recover its costs for consumer education about deregulation. Covers the cost of funding the Senior Citizens Discount Program for low-income customers.
Pipe Replacement: Regulated charge designed to cover costs associated with clean up of manufactured gas plant sites. Covers the cost of replacing 2,300 miles of bare steel and cast iron gas pipelines in Georgia.
Franchise Recovery Fee: This is a tax that AGL is required to recover. Calculated by multiplying $.50 times the customer's DDC. Recovers fees paid by Atlanta Gas Light Company to local governments for the use of public rights-of-way for its natural gas lines and other facilities.
Environmental Recovery Fee: This Regulated Charge is designed to recover costs associated with clean up of manufactured gas plant sites.
Peaking Service: This service charge is levied to ensure customers have gas on the coldest day of the year. Covers the fixed cost of operating company-owned above ground storage facilities. This ensures an adequate supply of gas on the coldest day of the year. This service is only charged to customers in the Atlanta, Macon and Valdosta delivery groups.
Billing Service: Charge is fixed and is equal for all customers, depending on your Rate Plan. GasKey breaks out this charge so you can see it. Some others fold it into the per therm rate or combine it with another charge.
Total Base Charge: Is a compilation of the various regulated pass through charges from AGLC & fixed charges for each customer. Marketers determine what's included in their Base Charge.
