GasKey is Now A Division of MXenergy

Who do I call for emergencies?
For all emergencies, contact Atlanta Gas Light (AGL)

Inside the Metro Atlanta area: 770-907-4231  Outside the Metro Atlanta area: 1-877-427-4321

What is the role of Atlanta Gas Light Company?
Atlanta Gas Light owns the network of pipes which carry gas to homes and businesses. AGL’s role is limited to transporting natural gas provided by marketers. In addition, AGLC will connect, transfer and disconnect gas service for your home or business and provide monthly meter reading services.

Does Atlanta Gas Light Company still offer Senior Citizen rates for low income customers?
Yes. You will need to complete the AGL Senior Citizen Application (PDF 16KB) or you can Contact Us and we will assist you in getting the Senior Citizen rate. In addition to the AGL discount, GasKey's Silver Therm Program offers a special discount to Seniors 65 and over, without income qualifications.

Do I call Atlanta Gas Light with questions about the AGL base charges on my bill?
No. GasKey will be happy to assist you with any questions about the AGL portion of your bill. Please Contact Us.

What is the Atlanta Gas Light Base Charge?
Base charges represent AGL’s cost of delivering gas to your home or business, pipeline maintenance and meter reading. This charge is regulated by the Georgia Public Service Commission and will not vary from marketer-to-marketer.

Base rates do, however, vary from customer-to-customer. They are calculated by looking at how much gas is used during the coldest period of the prior year, which allows AGL to guarantee they have enough pipe and storage capacity to meet all natural gas customers’ needs during cold weather months. The base charge for each individual account also varies based on other factors, such as the size of the home or facility and the types of gas appliances or equipment used.

How is my Base Charge calculated?
There are several components used in calculating a customer’s base charges, including:
Customer Charge, Ancillary Service
, Dedicated Design Day Capacity (DDDC), Pipeline Replacement, Peaking Service, Social Responsibility Fee, Environmental Recovery Fee, and Franchise Recovery Fee (FRF).

See our online Glossary for definitions of these terms, or visit the Atlanta Gas Light website.

Can I expect to see other charges from Atlanta Gas Light on my bill?
Only if you are establishing service for the first time. AGL charges a turn-on fee (currently
$25) for customers moving to an address where there is existing service. If a customer is moving to an address where there is no existing service and a meter has to be installed, AGL charges a $50 meter set fee.

Is there anything to prevent a rate change at some point in the future?
No. Atlanta Gas Light Company's transportation rates will continue to be regulated by the Georgia Public Service Commission. In the event of a rate change, GasKey will pass these rate increases or decreases on to the consumer. As always, the price of gas will be driven by normal market pressures, including increased competition.
